Heineken purchases another brewery
Heineken announced that it has purchased Swiss brewer Eichof for $279 million U.S., giving it a market share in the small country of nearly 25%.
Eichof’s Lucerne brewery had domestic beer sales of 361,000 hectoliters in 2007, and has a capacity of 400,000 hectoliters or 84.5 million pints.
The sale also provides Heineken with Eichof’s wine, mineral water and soft drink operations.
Heineken is expected to close a deal soon to buy half of the Scottish & Newcastle brewery at a cost of £4 billion.
